It's not every day that London hosts the start of the world's toughest endurance race - "Le Tour de France" - lasting three weeks, covering 3550 kms and 6 punishing mountain stages.
OK so London may not have the drama of the Alpine stages, but the crowds were out, as was the sun, and the atmosphere was electric.
We watched from the official "zero km" start line, the Greenwich meridian. Climbed up a fence to get a view of the cyclists as they zipped past (which took all of about 2 seconds!)
Then we visited the Maritime Museum.... well OK, we went to the cafe inside for a cafe latte... then on to Greenwich park for a picnic in the sunshine - Baguettes and Brie and a nice glass of wine... mmmm!l
