Uruguay and back into Buenos Aires (Argentina)

After leaving those lovely beaches on Ilha Santa Catarina we took a long bus ride into Uruguay and stayed at a tiny fishing town called Punta del Diablo just over the border connecting Uruguay with Brazil. We rented a little house right by the sea for less than 5 pounds a night. It was a cute little house and overlooked the beaches and rockpools we explored the next day. Uruguay is so cold compared to Brazil at the moment so despite it being sunny, it wasn't very warm. The weather was then rainy and cloudy for the next 3 days whilst we travelled to Montevideo (the Uruguayan Capital) where we had a lovely hotel room, a nice meal and drinks all for less than 20 pounds... we're so not going to be used to prices when we get back to the UK later this week!! After Montevideo we took a bus to Colonia - an old colonial fortress town on the coastline and had a walk round there then took a bus/boat combination trip which brought us back into Argentina, in Tigre (an hour's train ride from Buenos Aires). Uruguay was okay but think we would have enjoyed it more if the weather had been good, but they definitely do good steaks and red wine although it's nice to be back in Buenos Aires where they really know about good steak and red wine!!
