We are looking forward to our lei making workshop tomorrrow. On Monday we are planning to go hiking along the Na Pali coast. Then on Tuesday we will attend a traditional Hawaiian luau ... should be fun.
Tonight we are going to dine at Gaylords ... an old sugar cane plantation (where Randy and Janet had their wedding reception).
We miss you all. Keep the emails coming. We'll try and attach some photos later.
Take care, stay warm and God Bless you all.
Arnold & Jayne
Aloha from Kauai. Arn here (it's my turn). We're still on the Garden Island and enjoying it very much. Every ten feet is another post card shot. Beautiful tropical flowers and plants and everywhere. When we were in Waikiki Jayne enjoyed a massage and her masseuse (sp?) was a hula student about to graduate to the level of teacher after 16 years of training. She invited Jayne and I to witness her graduation ceremony here on Kauai yesterday. Prior to the actual ceremony the hula dancers prayed together in a circle in the ocean at sunrise. The ceremony itself was held in an ancient temple on sacred grounds in the cliffs along the Na Pali coast. It was a beautiful and touching display of real, traditional Hawaiian hula dancing, chanting and singing. We felt very priviledged to be among the few people that were there as it was a private ceremony and normally no one is allowed to be in that sacred area. Even the hula dancers had to ask the Gods for permission to enter the temple grounds.
