Well i'm sorry if this entry is going to be a little disappointing but we haven't really done much to write home about.

Now that we are in Thailand we thought it was a good time to experience some of the Thai culture and investigate their religion, health care, food, and other such very exciting things. We decided to start with the health bit and booked into a health spa on Koh Samui, in actual fact it was the one featured on the TV that Richard Blackwood, Kim Wilde and co visited. On offer to cleanse the body and mind on the way to good health and enlightment was massage, herbal steam baths, ear coning, lots of vegetarian food and their famous fasting and colon cleansing program. We entered into the spirit of the place and tried a bit of everything (well everything that was a massage anyway).

Thai massage is not quite like a normal massage where you lie back and relax as you are stroked and lightly tickled, no this involves being contorted, stretched and pummeled like a lump of bread dough being kneaded by a sumo wrestler (although the masseurs were really tiny). They use whatever bit of their bodies comes into contact with the victim either purposeful or by accident, elbows, feet, whole bodies all had a go. Suprisingly though the experience was not altogether unpleasant and actually was quite relaxing, we repeated the experience several times during our stay, partly though because the massage salas where you were treated were really cool thatched roofed, open sided structures with fab views of the sea.

One of the other things we participated in was the food. The restaurant was great and the food delicious and as it was all wholesome and vegetarian it felt like we were being almost saintly, no chips or chocolate or anything. It was a strange experience though eating mountains of food and scoffing our faces when all around us were starving fools on the fasting program. They were like school children looking longingly at the rich kid with the new toy, it was quite uncomfortable and made us feel really guilty (ok we laughed really but it was their choice).

So apart from the spa stuff, all we did on Koh Samui was sunbathe, swim in the sea, eat, drink, sleep and occasionally be merry (not Paul surely i hear you cry). We did one bit of very strange sight seeing in the shape of genetalia, literally. We walked for 2 hours along the beach in the streaming sunshine, climbed over rocks and sneaked through restaurants to see........ 2 rocks shaped like a willy and a ladies front bottom. A very bizarre but popular tourist attraction that we took photographic evidence of to share with you all.
