Although the flight was advertised as non stop, the distance neccessitates a fuel stop in Dakar. To and from New York on SAA all flights stop here. When flying to Washington this is also neccessary but on flights from Dulles to Joburg the winds allow a true non stop flight. The week before we went the Senagalese airport employees were on strike for better wages and SAA rerouted their flights throug Cape Verde.
