We organized a tour from our hotel which allowed us to see a good bit of the penninsula and all of the main sites. We departed in the morning and after picking up other people around the VA waterfront continued South East past the beaches and suburbs of Cape Town. The first major attraction was a boat ride out to Seal Island(not the actual name). From here we travelled down the most scenic drive in Africa towards the Cape. At the lookout point you can see where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean. The view is quite spectacular and the area is also a national park, so there are a number of the smaller game animals running around like antelope, ostriche, and the ubiquitous dassie. One of the highlights of the tour was the stop at Boulders beach where there is a Jackass penquin colony. Though only about 2 feet tall the little guys are quite entertaining and consequently we were late to make it back to the van. The tour group was a little upset but we hadn't been told of the departure time so we didn't feel too bad. After that we drove through Simon's town and the Naval yards of False bay on our way back towards Capetown. A few hours in Kirstenbosch gardens rounded out the trip. Once agian we needed more time. The gardens were very nice and I'm sure that you could spend many hours in there exploring around.
