Firstly: to Sawb - yes we know who you are and what Sawb stands for!!! Rick says that it's been that long since he's been on a bike that every gear was a happy gear. He checks out every bike that goes by and there have been heaps, mostly aluminium bikes ridden here. Ride wasn't too bad except bikes were heavy.
Oh, after todays drive, Rick would love to cycle the 17 Mile drive and beyond, any takers?
Secondly: Evie - no there are no sore bums or anything today, butts are fairly conditioned to bike saddles. Oh, face is a bit sore, a tad burnt.

After breakfast today we got petrol then drove down the Crookedest Street and then to Alamo Square and took a few pics.
We left San Francisco and headed down to Santa Cruz where we stopped for a little while. Josh played on some arcade games and then we went on the Carousel. The rides weren't running last time we were there and riding on the Carousel was a must for me. Same Carousel was featured in a scene on The Lost Boys.
After Santa Cruz we headed to Monterey and then did the 17 Mile drive which was lovely and then headed for the long journey along Pacific Highway 1 which takes the scenic coastal road down toward LA. We have stopped at San Simeon for the night and staying at a lovely place. We will be visiting Hearst Castle tomorrow before continuing our journey.
We have travelled through so many different weather conditions today. San Fran was foggy this morning, Santa Cruz had blue skies and was warm. During the next few hundred km's we have experienced sunny skies, low clouds and fog, no rain though. The coast line reminds us in some parts of the Great Ocean Rd although much longer. We have seen beaches, cliffs, mountains and forrests. We have also seen some of the biggest houses and properties that are in forrests but with beach fronts that we'll ever see, we couldn't even begin to guess how much they were worth. Seen heaps of golf courses too.
We had no choice but to make a few stops. Monterey was overcast but that is very common for them. A shop keeper in a candy store told us that it's not that common to have days with just blue skies and that 80 is a high temperature for them. Oh, we had to stock up on Taffys, they are lovely, got enough to get us through tomorrow too. Remember Taffys girls?
The other stops we took were to see wildlife. We've seen deer on golf courses, squirrels that lived in rocks but were that tame they'd eat out your hand and seals at Monterey. Close to where we are staying there and literally thousands of Elephant Seals, took a few pics of them too. We can even see some just up the beach from here so may take a stroll up in the morning and see how close we can get.
We've been down to the outdoor fire tonight. The hotel has 3 fire places down near the beach that they light up every night. Got speaking to a few Americans there, a "couple" of men and 2 other men. Had some nice conversations and they liked some pics that I took today. It's interesting comparing cultures and even chatting about politics, drought etc.
Anyway, going to upload some pics and go to bed, got to get up and at 'em in the morning.
