We got up and packed up our stuff and checked out of our hotel room. Before jumping on the highway, we stopped at the Golden Palms casino to get some breakfast at the IHOP that resides in their lobby. Seriously, I don't know where we could have gone that would have been worse. I got a "Classic Skillet" that was barely cooked. It had cheese on it that didn't even look refrigerated, much less melted. We spent the first couple hours of our drive to San Diego bleeding internally (unconfirmed.) We arrived in San Diego and checked into our economy hotel in the city's Little Italy neighborhood. It's a nice little designed hotel. Emphasis on the little. There is a queen size bed, a desk, a dresser, a bathroom sink/mirror and a small refrigerator packed into a space that's about the size of our living room. We dropped our stuff off and went to explore the Downtown area of San Diego. It's pretty cool I thought. We drove down to the waterfront, saw an aircraft carrier and several other impressive naval vessels. We then drove around the Gaslamp area and up to Petco Park (Home of the Padres.) Downtown San Diego reminds me a lot of a sunny Minneapolis, with a lot more palm trees. We eventually parked and went to find someplace to eat, finally settling on a sushi place. It was decent, but I think we were expecting a bit more. There is all this talk about how good sushi in California is, so we may have set our expectations too high. When we got back to the hotel though, we found that the lock on our door didn't work. I guess a key was broken off in the lock, so they said that we would have to move to another room. Unfortunately, the other room wouldn't be available until someone checked out the next day and they cleaned it up. Selah, we're San Diego and we're going to the zoo tomorrow. I can't bitch.
