But the universe is a bastard, entirely disinterested in our travel plans and the plight of the fat wallet man. So here I sit at Adelaide airport drinking barely warm Hudson's coffee looking at a pile of cards that will be of absolute no use in South America.
..... I wonder if I can get my Coffee Barun loyalty card stamped in Bolivia..
Arrive in Sydney with a light bump (8.7/10). With Tina feeling like her eardrum is trying to make a break for it.
Important things out of the way (like duty free vodka) before sitting down to listen to the song of the airport tribe 'ding ding DING! Welcommuuffle Murfle smenkle funtchegarp'
(Followed by people rushing past us to force their way a place ahead at a stationary line in front of a closed door.)
Makes me wonder if taking a cruise ship to Santiago would have been less stressful.
Our seat is just back of the wing, in baby central. (A)
5 or so hours in and it's non stop movies and occasional breaks for alcohol. International cattle class is not 'too' bad. The food was surprisingly hot and the mini bottle of wine, strangely tasty.
Long haul flights to my mind are all about trying to get maximum value for money. ie. drinks.
It's been a few years since I've done a long haul flight but sadly the 'can we offer you a drink, Sir' philosophy has changed to pouring tea and coffee down the aisle to placate the cattle. (A)
