The flight from Gatwick to Dubai was delayed by nearly two hours. I think it was this, and the fact that the vegetarian meals are brought out ages before the others that caused me to briefly lose consciousness.
When I came to, I was lying in the aisle with one of the cabin crew holding my legs in the air and another gently telling me that it 'was ok, passenger - this kind of thing happens all the time'.
It wasn't the most auspicious of introductions to my travelling experience...

I made up for it by enjoying the movie channels to the full (Madagascar, Willy Wonka, The Ring 2, The Psychology of Mass Murderers etc). I was impressed to find that the plane had a downwards and forward camera which could be viewed on the screen. I used it to spot weapons of mass destruction as we flew over the desert.

When the plane landed at Dubai I left my CD case behind. It contained precious mp3 compilations that Sean & Leaf had made for me.
You can imagine how keen the Dubai airport police were to help me retrieve it!

Needless to say, I was very relieved to see Harriet waiting for me in her summer dress at Sydney airport.
