Sunday was a slow day. Katherine and I both slept really late, and the weather was rainy and blustery so we didn't feel like doing much. We did, however, trek all over town in search of a cybercafe with a webcam so I could talk to Arvin. No luck, which was very frustrating, and we're both getting a bit of a sore throat. Fortunately I brought along some packets of ginger tea!!

Back at the hostel, I talked with Arvin via MSN for an hour. I really miss him and am not sure whether I can hold out for 2 years, nor if I even want to. The consensus was that we could keep talking all day. I also phoned Pat, MSNed Jill (friend living in Halifax) and Kim, and e-mailed Arvin after our conversation, expressing my loneliness. I felt emotionally remote from everyone except Arvin--it was good to talk to them but I didn't particularly miss them. Arvin, though...I'm starting to wonder what I was thinking of. He, too, had gone out to a bar two nights ago with people he didn't know well and had wished to be somewhere peaceful with me. I don't know what to do.

The evening was spent at the hostel, having another late-night conversation (not as late as before!) with Ryan, Katherine, and "Joe Canadian", another Swapper who arrived just after we did. His name really is Joe and he's from Ottawa and is very Canadian. Our introduction to him had come the previous night when he had buzzed to come into the hostel and had then disappeared. It had been quite late and we'd been worried that he had passed out on the steps or something, but when we went down to check we couldn't find him. We were relieved to discover he'd made it back after all. He's pleasant enough but not the smartest guy around (his degree is in phys. ed.). Very laid-back though, and as I said, very Canadian!
