Hi all and greetings from Seattle :D

At Oslo Airport we checked in 3 items; 2 bags full of clothes and a camera tripod. Here they are in our hotel room in Seattle. Can you spot the problem?!

We boarded our flight with a few items of carry-on (the valuables) and checked in the rest. Upon arrival in Seattle all that was left of that was our carry-on and 1 of the bags with clothes. Frank also lost his checked-in luggage, so now all we have for clothing is one bag of women's garments. We arrived on sunday afternoon and it is now monday evening. If the bags are not located soon then we will have to work out how good we all look in skirts and low-cut tops.

So thanks to NorthWest Airlines we have now been spending quite a lot of time at Macy's shopping for the essentials like underwear and socks :D Of course no holiday is complete without some NON-essential shopping, so now we are also the proud owners of a new wide-angle lens for Martijn's camera. We have managed to resist buying tacky and cheesy souvenirs for the time being, but we are NOT making any promises that we'll keep that up. (Does anyone want a plastic miniature keychain? Or maybe a t-shirt that says 'Sleepless In Seattle'?! :P)

When not shopping we have however had a nice time seeing the sights of Seattle by means of 'Ride The Ducks'. Which, for the people not in the know, is a tour in an amphibious vehicle. We can highly recommend that if you ever find yourself in Seattle with 2 hours spare and can handle an insane guy behind the wheel both on land and water.

After 'riding the duck' we went to The Sci-Fi Museum And Hall Of Fame. This is an amazingly cool collection of sci-fi props and information about everything from Planet Of The Apes to Star Trek and from Asimov to Lucas.

All of this is close to the Space Needle, a tower that has become a Seattle landmark, which we went back to in the evening for a fancy dinner in the revolving restaurant. After dinner we went up to the observation deck and took some pictures as the sun was setting over Seattle. Thus completing a nice full day of being a tourist.

mwahaha fipo!
Okay, sorry about the title, couldn't resist ;)
Anyway, it sounds like you're having a great time even with northwest losing track of 2/3 of what you gave them (I wonder how they manage to do that...). Nice pictures :) the duck thing looks cool, must be an odd sensation to just be driving from the road into the water.
Anyway, I hope you'll get your luggage back soon (I don't really look forward to seeing pictures of a crossdressing Martijn ;)) and have lots more fun, I look forward to your next postings :).

Greets,
Pepijn.

And what did you lose if they DON'T find your luggage?

And if you want to buy me a cheesy souvenir ... a city t-shirt wil do ;) example : i didnt buy the i love new york but bought the subway map on a t-shirt... a you know me well enough...

I loved the CN tower so i can imagine how the Space Needle must have been like .. hope you can see more of that stuf.

Re: Good excuse!
Heh, the lens bought is the Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 with a nice quick and silent HSM motor and obviously for the Nikon body :)

If the luggage is somehow not retrieved (god forbid) then we will have to get a replacement for all of Martijn's clothes for this trip: underwear, socks, t-shirts, a few trousers, sandals as well as the small camera-bag (a LowePro hipbag-variant) and the good-will we had towards NWA of course ;)

We're still hopeful so far that they will find the luggage somewhere and sometime before we move on from Seattle :D

Groetjes,
Martijn :)

Remember this:
A suitecase in the hand is worth two in the bush.
But hopefully, while you are reading this, they are already tracked down.
What is a man without his suitcase?
Greetings.

Bloody airline...
Hi you all!
Hmm, does this run in the family? Whenever I go traveling there's something going wrong as well. Visitors permit, ?forbidden? items in luggage etc. I hope you'll get your stuff back, but nonetheless you seem to have a good time without clean undies :D.
Nice pic of the Seattle skyline!
Keep us informed...
