Julia and I packed the night before we left on our fight. I am working all morning in church. After all three morning services, I rush to my office tear off my clergy robe and tie and race to the car with Julia and Robin. Robin is going to "dog sit" for Abbey while we are gone. What a blessing for Robin to make this available to us. Bags are packed and re-packed and we check in at the airport.

Whew! Now the adrenaline is settling now in my body while we wait calmly for our short flight to Chicago. After eating a small lunch in the Indy airport, Jules and I make our way to the gate only after a baggage search. Shoes removed, empty pockets, shoes replaced... lovely way to travel.

At the gate we meet up with Darryl and Jeanette Moody who are from St. Luke's UMC. I first met Jeanette when she was volunteering with Carolyn Scanlan in the children's music department. I have not met Darryl. They seem like well-traveled folks eager for a new adventure. Darryl is a professor at Bluffton College in Ohio and Jennet is a retired (early retirement) school teacher and now works as a consultant with schools. She is also on Kazim's board of directors for his charter school.

I am looking around for the Shaheeds to join our group. Julia found a website with Judge David Shaheed photo so I was on the look-out for them since none of us had met. Eventually, handsome looking couples whom I thought must be the Shaheeds walk up and I introduced myself to them. After inviting them to meet the rest of the group we sat down to get better acquainted. David Shaheed is a Marion County criminal court judge who did his under grad work at University of Evansville - my hometown. Brenda Shaheed was reared in Evansville and is currently an administrator at Martin University in Indianapolis.

This ought to be a great trip.
