Travelling with a baby means lots of preparation and so many more things to consider and pack! But its all very exciting and I showed Jasper his little toy VW campervan today - yes he will be living in the van with Mummy and Daddy for 2 weeks. Not sure about weather though, trans-seasonal, so looks like we need to pack for hot and cold, just in case! Fingers crossed its nice weather. Counting down the hours til we leave... That reminds me, I need to look up exactly where is Harwich??

So after endless repacking and packing we made it out of london on time and with only some traffic you could say it was smooth sailing ;) to get to Harwich ( its in Essex btw) by 4pm for check in. And although Kenny was worried about sea sickness despite the strong winds I thought we would be ok, that was until the captain announced that the ship may start to roll early in the morning. Uh- oh if the captain was warning us then it was going to be a LONG night, had we thought this whole ferry and van trip through? Well, at least it would be an adventure!!

Buffet dinner was suprisingly delicious and it wasn't until I was feeding Jasper and trying to get him to sleep that I noticed the ship starting to move. That was just the beginning! Lucikly we got Jasper to bed but I don't think we slept a wink! If it wasn't the rolling ship then it was the noise of the bunk beds ( we had a 4 berth) creaking and groaning with the ship. I thought the bed was going to smash down on top of me for the first few hours and the last few hours I had to stop myself from falling out of bed and onto little J as the ship was nearly sideways!   As Kenny said "Who would take a ship, that's obviously why they invented planes!" So despite no sleep we were all pretty good once morning came and it was time for breakfast. Great buffet again and as I was coming back from picking up seconds, chuckling as I tried to avoid hitting people due to the rolling of the ship and also realising that in looking at everyone's face they had as bad a sleep as we had, I noticed a distraught Kenny. Jasper had thrown up everywhere. Bless poor little bubba had sea sickness. I am sure he didn't know what was going on but obviously his body did. He threw up again and it wasn't until we were back in the cabin and I had him asleep that he was better. Daddy didn't fare much better. But luckily it was only a few hours to go and after they both had a nap, they were both loads better. We had a look out on deck and around the ship and arrived in safely and on time in Esjberg, Denmark at 1pm on Saturday. Phew, first stage of the JKL adventure was complete. Photos in the morning folks once we find the camera cable!
