Final blog... With days left to spare.... In Thailand....?! What was I thinking?!?

Due to fly 20th Nov. In my wisdom I decided I would book a return flight from Hanoi, Vietnam as I would be coming back to Vietnam first when I travel back. So I booked with Etihad and then a separate flight with Air Asia from Bangkok to Hanoi same day.

So last night cleverly I have a coffee and can of coke before I sleep and well, I don't sleep at all, just stare at the fan for 6 hours until my 4am alarm... So I get to the airport, try and check in and the guy says 'where's your visa' I say 'no have, have stamp' thinking he is talking about my Thai visa.. He says 'no, your Vietnamese visa' I say 'no need, I have a flight later and will be in transit staying in airport', he says 'cannot' I say 'whynot' he says 'you have to go through immigration who ,if you don't have a visa, won't let you pass' I say 'your kidding' he says 'no... i'm not'..

So I go speak to the supervisor who explains in his own roundabout way that Air Asia is a shit airline and for some reason when you fly with them you have to go through immigration ... Now if I had chosen any other local airline I wouldn't have had this problem, just straight through to the transit lounge and on I go but oh no... Not with SHITTY AIR ASIA....ARRRGGHH!!

So tired, hungry and feeling sick from the prospect of what lies ahead I get a taxi back and start my crazy mission in Bangkok to sort this mess out... To cut a long story short between air Asia, Etihad, Vietnam airlines, Vietnam embassy and a small local travel agent in the middle, without a single phone call, just up and down office visits I manage to work out the most viable option to get home but if I tell you the cost I'll just break down in tears so let's just say I managed a next day visa, new flight to Hanoi and new flight from Hanoi to Manchester all to follow on within an extremely tight 24 hour period of each other and most importantly in time For my sisters engagement party... How I don't know but mission accomplished as such and now at 3pm I can finally eat, breathe and try forgot it all...

Thailand, and in particularly Bangkok, just sucks you back in.... Let's hope this really is my final blog...?

Oh lee lee, what a palava... but awaiting you in the UK are hugs galore, a cosy bed, space for your stuff and the backpack to be cast aside, home comforts, your family and friends, and 6 whole weeks of home-time to rejuvenate you and get you back into the full swining mosde of a chirpy happy traveller. Money comes and goes... other good fortunes will come your way in the future which will make up for this I promise xxxxxxxx

What a nightmare! So frustrating, airports are bad enough at the best of time. Never mind, lesson learned for your future trip. You'll soon be home, sleeping in your own bed, rustling up Thai cuisine in my vavavoom new kitchen, ad hopefully recouping your losses via the geegees on Saturday afternoon.

Hope the rest of your journey back goes smoothly, and you manage to get some rest on the plane.

Oodles of hugs and kisses waiting for you here - prepare to be hugged to bits!

Lots of love, Mum xxxxxxxxxx
