Flag of Thailand  , Chiang Mai,
Saturday, October 27, 2012

Ok, so since leaving new life I pretty much stuck to the plan I had... I went to chiang Mai and had a great Halloween night out as the guesthouse I was at had a party and night out, will have some pics uploaded from this... Then hired motorbike out and did the Mae Hong Son loop... Mae Hong son is the province, like our counties, and also a place too. It's a mountainous area in north west and has highest point in all Thailand. The roads are excellent too and driving a pleasure though some may have seen the pic I uploaded to Facebook of my foot from a fall but upload it here too, so yes, I came off, it was a u-turn type bend which dipped steeply too and the bikes brakes weren't great so I locked up, wobbled and went... Wasn't going fast but slid on road with foot under bike... Ouch... Lesson learnt - don't wear flip flops whilst motor biking!!

So Pai was very cool, a really hippy, touristy area but with cool bars and shops and very chilled atmosphere... I didn't have long so decided to leave but come back for a week next year so on to Mae hong son, sleepy and very local but cool as there was a full moon festival; not like the south Thailand parties but traditional local stuff... Got some pics and video of the procession and pic of me and Karen... Well, I don't know her name but she was from the Karen hill tribe people and from the long neck variety where they wear hold rings to stretch their necks.... Felt sorry for the Karen normal neck people who get no attention at all (and are hard to spot amongst other Thai's)... Oh yeah, and here's where I spent my birthday, in a bar, well, Mae hong sons only bar, with loads of Thai guys all watching Liverpool v arsenal and then man utd v Chelsea... I may have been on my own , earlier fallen off the motorbike and spoken about twenty words all day but it was a great birthday none the less..!

So next day it was Mae Sariang where they also celebrated for two nights so stayed and had great time. I went here first time round and liked it just as much. They had these great fireworks on thin rope that you lit, then swung round to build up momentum before launching in to the air where they then ignite (if you timed it right?!) and fly off in to the sky like a rocket... Anyway I had two goes but had a few beer Changs already so my first attempt hit a tree fell to the ground and then shot just past my feet somewhere so I tried again but this time it hit my leg and went about 10ft in to middle of this busy road; stopped, ignited and shot across the junction at about waist height in to a wall! Seriously, if it would have hit a bike I don't know what would have happened?

So then it was back to Chiang Mai and then down to Ko Chang for a holiday from a holiday from a holiday...;)

Delly on

Hahaha, who'd have guessed you would feel sorry for someone with a normal neck... how odd!!

Full moon festival looks fab, and fireworks sound mental, bet there's so many accidents!

And I CANNOT believe you got into the whole fancy dress thing for halloween, you actually look really good, but thought you hated fancy dress hahaha, how all this travelling has changed you, for the better of course :)

See you very sooooon xx

OUCH! Bet that motorbike fall hurt ....... hopefully a lesson learned and you won't be so blummin daft again!

Great photos ..... so much going on in your life, going to be a bit dull when you get back to good old Halifax ..... but lots of women with weird body parts to compete with Karen and even more oldee cougars so no need to package your 100-year old Thai Bride over with you haha.

Love and miss you lots
Mum xxxxx
