OK, hey everyone, how you all doing? Cold?! Ha haaa!!! well, i wish i could rub it in and say its great here but its been torrential rain for past few hours but its still warm and very refreshing...

So not planning has finally, like a kinky Mozzy, bit me on the bum..... i roughly picked my route north from my LP guidebook but didn't really look in to the logistics but the guy who put the route together needs shooting because it starts at Kanchanaburi and heads to the top of Thailand at Chang Mai but at my second stop yesterday Sangkla Buri when looking in to the travel options north to Mae Sot i am told the roads are only suitable for a 5 day trek or off road bikes so i find i have to bus it all the way back to my starting point Bangkok and the bus north again in like a tight V shape up to my current location Mae Sot, so i set off at 7:30am yesterday and arrived at 6:20am this morning, thats 23 hours on 3 buses!!! In my time on the buses i have checked the rest of the route and its all doable by many means of transport so no problem but why this route had those first two stops in is bizarre....

anyway, undeterred i am in Mae Sot, which is similar but bigger than Sangkla Buri... after a couple of hours sleep on arrival i met a retired Swedish guy in the same guesthouse and chatted with him for a while, very nice guy and he asked if i wanted to borrow his scooter to look round town! so i say yes and have been driving round and generally finding nothing as my sense of direction is terrible but have now found a couple of places, tried sign up for cookery course at only 400B (about 5/600 less than most other places i have found so far) but no one else is booked on so they will call the guesthouse if there any more interest... found a bar too which has live music tonight and chatting to the guys behind the bar who's english was OK, they are gonna try find a laptop for me and i go back tomorrow night to see what they've found. They had a Liverpool scarf behind the bar so i said i too was a Liverpool supporter, but come on if i say Sheffield Wednesday then that would just be a conversation stopper!! and so after talking about footy and why they Liverpool should sell Andy Carroll and apparently Reina too?! i find there is a restaurant in town which shows footy so will catch todays game there later....very untouristy i know but maybe a place where there are some other backpackers, otherwise ill move on to the 2 places i know of with live music on tonight....

So i plan to stay here 2-3 days, there is a herbal spa for only 20B (30p!!) which i am gonna try find now, you can hop over the border to Burma for 500B which i plan to do tomorrow now that the cookery course looks doomed here, and then i am gonna try borrow my swedish mates bike again to bike about 150km south towards Um Phang where, on route, there are tribal villages all using elephants and also some national parks and waterfalls so its gonna be a just drive off and see what i can find....

Next stop after here i am going to somewhere apparently quieter called Mae Sariang which is where the swedish guy actually lives so he has told me about a good guesthouse and things to see...

I realised on my bus route from hell that i could be describing Thailand a bit more rather than just whats happening to me as i go so next up i will give an insite in to what i think Thailand is all about...namely Buddhism and food!! OK, gonna upload any pics on my camera now and try find this herbal spa.... its a hard life...;) Love to all....x

Oh lee lee, only you haha, going all the way up only to find you need to come back down to go back up again hee hee you do make me laugh! A ball ache yes, but hey one thing you do have out there is time, and every twist and turn brings about new experiences, people and memories so nothing lost and everything gained (including miles hahaha!) Your guest house in Mai .... (forgot name already) looks lovely - you have en suite get you!! Prices sound amazing for pamper treats like the herbal spa, you're gonna come back so chilled :) Looking forward to hearing more on your views on Thailand and the food, and defo keep trying to get on cookery courses, they're cheap as chips and will be great for when you come back (well great for us eating it!) :) If theres no course, I imagine given you sweet talking with the locals, you can probably get a 121 cookery course for zippety do, just ask with a smile and there you go... you own personal cookery course.

Just about to try look at your videos, but as always, LOVELY to hear from you, I miss you sooooooooo much but in a good way, so proud of you! You asked about how things are here... Jon got wed to Nic yesterday - great day had by all, e really missed you but all did a cheers to you at the dinner table at Shibden mill inn (your always in our hearts and minds ahhh), I have been shmoozing at charity balls in London - always a favourite of mine, Chris is as fabulous as ever and asks about you every day (he knows I read yuour blogs religiously so I reiterate them to him each night haha), Mum is fab - getting loads of viewings on her house whilst I also persuade her to move as close to me as possible in Halifax :) Jess is fab - world of work is looking great for her in America... and the weather is generally pants, day to day is same ol same ol so you're not missing out on anything really!

Love you soooooooooo much, love del xxx
