Weather Report
Adjacent to Halaran Hotel, is this cottage looking hotel which has slightly dearer room prices. I thought a christmas breakfast here should be alright. Turned out to be pretty awful and expensive. Gravy meat on rice. How could they get it wrong? I should have stuck to the local eateries but none were opened on Christmas Day. My next destination - Iloilo City. With the weather forecast that tropical storm Wukong will hit the Visayas tomorrow, I thought a bigger city would be safe bet to seek shelter in. At Ceres bus terminal before 12 pm and it started to drizzle. At this stage, the eye of the storm was over Mindanao, southeast of Visayas.

Looking for Room
It was a very wet three hours journey all the way to Iloilo bus terminal north of the city. A jeepney transfer to city proper took another 30 minutes before I alighted at Central Market in front of Iloilo Grand Hotel. Turned out her cheapest room was way out of my budget. Eros Travellers Pension House featured on Lonely Planet caught my eye. It was directly north of the SM City store. Not knowing that there is another SM City mall, I hopped onto a jeepney which took me 20 minutes out of the city to this mega shopping mall otherwise know as SM City Iloilo. Got off jeepney with backpacks in tow, feeling like an idiot, crossed the bridge but this time took a taxi to pension house for 70 pesos.

Non Stop Raining in Iloilo
Eros Travellers Pension House turned out to be value for money. 495 php per night motel style with TV, cold water shower and air conditioning. Went  out for a late lunch of batchoy (noodle soup with liver bits and tiny fried crackers) and was wandering around the neighbour when the rain returned but this time really heavy. I found myself shelter at a nearby coffee shop and even sang a few videoke songs with local punters. This rain took three hours to ease before I could step out again. It never really stopped. It just drizzled on into the night. Can't do much about it so I went out to SM City Iloilo for a wander til late. There was free wifi in the mall.
