Ifugao Elders
I must had been really exhausted, sleeping in from 11 pm last night through to 12 pm today. Not much of a plan today except to explore the nearby villages in Banaue. Hired a tricycle for 300 php to Banaue's various viewpoints and enjoyed the splendid views of more epic rice terraces cutting its way toward Banaue.

A group of french travelers proceeded to trek back their way to Banaue through the rice terraces. Seemed like an interesting hike and also because most of the trail should be descending downhill. At all the four viewpoints, there will be a couple of elderly Ifugao tribesmen waiting for you to take their pictures. I offered 50 php to 3 Ifugao tribesmen for their time. They were so old and ancient, one could not even remember her age. I reckoned the daily climbing of these mountains and fresh air helps.

Tam-An/Poitan Trek
I made my way down to Tam-An village and began my trek down towards Poitan village. The hike (mostly downhill and flat) took me around the edges of rice terraces, steep cliffs and through farmland, and a very peaceful walk into Poitan village. At the village, children were playing at the communal square (albeit a tiny one) and families were in their huts sharing lunch. Many were delighted to see me passing through.

Two young sisters even helped lead the way out of Poitan, ascending many steps. They were so funny, continuously laughing and teasing at me as I tackled the steps at a tortoise's pace. Whenever I stopped to catch my breaths, they would run back down prompting me chase them up again. Aaaahh...village life.

Sanafe Restaurant
Rain started falling and continued til late as I got out of Poitan and walked my way back to Banaue. Dinner at Sanafe restaurant was one of the better ones in town. Or perhaps I ordered the right dish - chicken gambas - a beautiful stir fry chicken in garlic and local spices.
