Cool Pyay Hot Yangon
The morning in Pyay was surprisingly chilly at this time of the year. The bus to Yangon was by far the best bus I had travelled in Myanmar. Even with the aisle seats where fold down from the arm-rest instead of the usual plastic stools. After 7 hours of butt rocking, there was another 45 mins taxi ride to get into Yangon city. To be honest, in this Yangon heat, I was slowly getting weary.

Back at Chan Myae Guesthouse, I was quite happy with my US$12 room including air conditioning and attached bathroom. What a difference that US$3 make! Stepping out to a neaby tea shop, I met Johnny (that Indian-burmese man whom I met when I first arrived) near the cinema. In a city of 6 million people, I managed to meet the same person twice. Now that was a rare bit of coincidence.

At the tea shop, they would lay out plates of local pastries on the table for your picking but I settled for a minced chicken bun and a fine cup of Myanmar milk tea. Dinner was a familiar chicken biryani rice before I headed out on foot to Chinatown. Not surprisingly, Chinatown was still pretty much awake and bustling at 9pm with rows of street food and flower stalls, and various wet market vendors.
