It was not even 7am and the Wat across the guesthouse had the morning chantings and prayers over the loudspeaker....

A quick baguette and a 3000 riel tuktuk ride to Heart of Angkor guesthouse check in. Room here was better furnished and came with a TV (just the local channels though). The toilet however stank. But there was not the end of it (will reveal more later).  A brisk walk up Sivatha Bvld searching for a bank to cash my traveller's cheque for the lowest commission and found SBC bank with no crowd and only a US$2 commission per US$100.

Once cashed up, I called Bopha the travel agent over to my guesthouse to enquire further about transport to Prasat Preah Vihear. She represented only for a particular bus company that travels only to Tbeng Meanchey, the further eastern side of my destination. In hindsight, I decided to abandon this lead and embarked on a search for an Anlong Veng/Sra Em bus route, western side of my destination. With a stroke of luck, I found GST bus that departs Siem Reap to Anlong Veng daily at 130pm. Gladly paid US$5 for a one way ticket.

The rest of the day was spent exploring the town centre and night markets. Night fell and the disco next door had only just begun. All known cheesy versions of 90s pop were belted.

12am - no signs of stopping - watched the Discovery Channel
1am - tempo of techno increased - still watching the Discovery Channel
2am - loudspeakers balsting away - rapid eye movements to the beat of the din

Drifted into dream zone and the alarm went off.
