In our few days in Rwanda we paid a visit to the Genocide museum and memorial in Kigali. It was a very moving tribute and so scary to see how people were influenced to kill on such a scale their friends and neighbours, sometimes in a horrifically brutal manner. There were many personal accounts of the tragedy and photos of some of the victims (nearly a million). Even more incredible is how the nation has judged and punished those criminally involved, forgiven and recovered; now the Hutu’s and Tutsis are no longer socially distinguished or separated, back to the way things were before colonial rule.
Our main reason for visiting Rwanda was to visit the Mountain Gorillas - only found in Uganda, Rwanda and DRC (Congo) We had to trek for 2 hours through dense bamboo forest and thick mud before we found the Amahoro family of Gorillas
We headed back through Uganda, stopping in Jinja where we went rafting down some grade 5 rapids, then back on to Nairobi where we ended this part of the Dragoman trip. So far so good
