Where I stayed
Blue Wave Guesthouse
Caye Caulker was fantastic. It's the smaller and less commercial of the two northern cayes. It has no cars or big hotels and is very reasonably priced.
Lesson learnt:
This is a great place for snorkeling and diving to see wildlife. We saw lots of sharks, stingrays, sea turtles and we had the most amazing experience with two manatees who stayed to swim and circle Dave.
Luck was on our sides in Caye Caulker - we played trivia on three nights and won two nights and came second on the other (which paid for all of our drinks). We also won in a raffle for the Humanitarian Society which looks after the stray dogs and cats in the town.
We also kayaked and sailed and hiked around the island and lay on the beach. A great spot we wished we'd been able to come back to.
