Special entry by Anna, Laura, Chris and Craig........

Well the fragile state some of us were in after the night before found the arrival at Koh-Pha-Ngan quite a shock with music blasting out as soon as we got to the island! We all got into a jeep along with about another 10, 11 other people. Quite squished but much fun. We had about a half hour journey to the other side of the island which is where we were told was the place to stay. We got SOAKED and then a bit more SOAKED! Sonkran cotinued. There were so many people on the side of the road throwing water all over us, spraying us with freezing water from water pistols and chucking whole buckets over us while we were in the back of an open jeep, the driver of which, stopped at every available water soaking opportunity.

When we found a guest house we were rather wet. We went for lunch before we had a much needed nap. Lunch was a bit of an eye-opener though. We discovered that we were staying in the thai equivalent of Ibiza. We spent two nights there, at the Coral bungalows. Craig got himself an awesome bamboo tattoo of a turtle after many, many hours of searching! :) He declares that it was a 'fantastic experience!' We did lots of shopping and invested in buckets of alcohol which are sold from hundreds of stalls along Haad Rin beach (home of the full moon party). We felt a bit guilty for indulging in the Ibiza style drinks but it needed to be done.

We decided to leave the place we had been staying at, as we didn't feel that we were getting much of a thai experience so we took our ruck sacks down to the beach and got a long boat round the headland to a place called The Sanctuary. It was an incredible place! It was like having your own private island. It had it's own beach and we stayed in a woooden bungalow on stilts in the jungle. The boys had two rooms in a dorm. The place was so relaxing. The bar area was full of hamocks and the food was all freshly prepared, either vegetarian meals or seafood. There were yoga classes four times a day, which Debs and Craig went to in the morning. They enjoyed it a lot but I don't think I have ever seen anyone so hot as they both were when they came back from the class. There was a spa there too, so some of us had massages. Sooooooooooo relaxing. Lying in a hammock in the evening, next to the sea, drinking cocktails and listening to faithless. It doesn't get much better than that!!!
