Trekked 6 hours to Lukla. Beer is still 350 NRS. I'll wait till I get back. I walk around town. No more flights todays. Stop at 12 as the clouds come in. So no beer, no planes to watch. Go get some momo's. Best yet. Always. I repeat. Always go local.
The town has a few bars including an Irish bar and a pool hall, however as the season is drawing to an end these are deserted. Retire to room to read. If I lived here i would go crazy. I bet they all shag the yaks. I'll be checking for foot prints on the bottom of buckets later.
Luckily the Bangladeshi climbing team roll into town before I slit my wrists. We play cards, drink thungpa and eat together. They seem surprised that I like it spicy and I explain the tradition of getting shit faced and burning your mouth back in England. The team leader looks like Danny Glover from Leathal Weapon.
Young Sherpa presents the team with a cake for summiting and I get some. I have weaseled my way into the celebrations and photographs. I climbed Lobouche peak; I have the photographs to prove it. Crampons and ice axe here i come.
p.s. I never knew but if you climb an unnamed peak you get to name it. These dudes are planning on naming one such peak the Nepal Bangladeshi friendship peak. I hope they do it. I wish you well boys.
