Tomorrow we set off on our road-trip to Istanbul, after 3 relaxing days in Torba, just outside Bodrum.  We came to Bodrum knowing that it was a popular package-holiday destination for Brits, but were pleasantly surprised to find it a relatively unspoilt, charming town, with a beautiful harbour packed predominantly with traditional gulets rather than power yachts, and a very nice upmarket side to it. 

Yesterday we visited Bodrum castle which is arguably one of the most impressive castles in the mediterranean, and which now houses a museum of underwater archaeology ie artefacts discovered in shipwrecks, dating back to 3,000 years old.  We all found it fascinating despite walking around in the punishing heat, and the children were captivated by a video showing the recovery of this 'treasure' in the 1960s, a feat which took over 22,000 separate dives.

Other than that, we spent our time relaxing by the pool and sea at Casa dell Arte, a small family hotel in a quiet old fishing village.  Mum had some wonderful quality time with the children, and Benjamin was back on form, fully recovered from his nasty bout of conjunctivitis, and finally eating again.
