With mum making slow but steady progress Benjamin and I left the UK yesterday and headed to LA to join the rest of the family.  It goes without saying that its been a difficult time, but we are sure that mum will continue to improve and we're hugely grateful to Bryn and Beck for carrying on the general nursing duties.   So, I've promised myself that they'll be no more tears, just happy times ahead.....

LA has proven to be a fabulous place to meet up and re-start the adventure: clear blue skies, warm temperatures of 20 degrees and a great hotel right on the beach at Santa Monica.  We've had a great first day, walking along the beach (Brad in the wee small hours with a jet-lagged Benjamin) then me and Benji at 5 am, watching the first of the fitness freaks working out on the beach, and the surfers heading out to the waves.   Once the others were up we had a great big American breakfast, caught up on all the boys amazing adventures in Telluride, then sauntered down to Venice Beach, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying some fun people watching.  Zach has already decided that America is better than England!

After a general family nap we headed back out for a sunset walk along Santa Monica pier, Brad and Zach went on the big wheel and Benjamin, Jamie and I watched the world go by as the sun went down.  Saw some great LA sights, including a dog dressed up as Minnie Mouse including matching booties, and a woman wearing a hat-come-cage on her head which contained a live bird!

We're so happy to be our unit of 5 again and going to bed with big smiles on our faces after a really lovely day.  The boys are ecstatic to be back together in their gang of 3 - they have missed each other so much, and Benjamin has to be the happiest baby of all....
