Where I stayed
Mui Ne Backpackers
The beautiful coastline on the way to Mui Ne confirmed that we were in for a tropical treat. Mui Ne is a gorgeous, laid back little place with some super posh resorts and lovely beach front restaurants. Needless to say we checked into the backpackers hostel in a $6 a night dorm, however we were very pleased to find the place had a pool and was right on the beach too.
It sounds pathetic but after two months of travelling (and two weeks for Gems!) we were really looking forward to some chill out time. I'd not had any significant beach time in my two months away and Gems had not been on a beach holiday of any sort for 13 years!
So we made up for all of this by spending the next 5 days reclining in the sun at the executive Coco Beach resort, where our eager waiters would literally run across the scorching sand to cater to our every whim. Our sun loungers were moved for us every time we wanted shade, and endless lemon juice and baguettes were with us in an instant. The sun loungers cost the same to hire for the day as our dorm room but it was so worth it! And the sea was actually warm!
So there's not too much to report from Mui Ne - others partook in the oh-so-energetic kite surfing, but after seeing how difficult it looked (and all the jellyfish in the water!) we decided that we were better of lazing in the sun. We also met some lovely Italians, Canadians and Italian-Canadians in our dorm so our evenings were spent swapping travel stories and tucking into local sea food at the water front restaurants. Bliss!
We squeezed every last moment out of our time here and worked tirelessly on our tans (i have never had so many freckles!) :-) And then it was time to move on to Ho Chi Minh city, our last stop before Gemma had to go back to Blighty...
