A quick brekky and we head off to find the 'real' amish...as we knew they were about. We regularly saw buggies and when driving on the back roads, off the main highways, we saw them working the farm land with horse drawn equipment, or walking around in their traditional clothes or on traditional unmotorised modes of transport. Their cycle was a cross of a razor/scooter and a bicycle. We saw those all over the place as well as those buggies. I'm prerty sure I took a photo of the road sign of the buggy on the other camera.

Am sure you guys can't wait for the 'other' photos sharing session when we get back. Highlights Can include the road signs set (incl. the name that country's deer signs). the Wheresmisty in New York City anthology (a la Where's Wally books) and the 'Have no idea why she took this and where' exclusive collection. If you are really keen, I would be pleased to unveil and share the unedited versions Series 1 & 2-What on earth is that??!!

You will just have to wait and I know you are sighing in anticipation!

Back to the program.

We pop into one of the original Amish tourist places and had prior notice from travel blogs etc re the Target right next door to the place. Its the Amish Farm and House. We had planned to take the tour around the school, and to learn about the Amish life etc but as there were only a couple of runs being made, we couldn't wait. Also, the woodworkers and quilt makers were not there so we missed out....sigh...this may mean we have to come back.

I have to do a food report here. I had a slice of Shoo Fly pie-nice, like any sweet or dessert pie....not top of my pops but I wouldn't say no to it again if offered...actually I really haven't met a pie I haven't liked so I am a useless food critic!

I also had a whoopie pie....remember how Maine and Pennyslvania both claimed to have the best and orginal whoopie pie? Well. If what I had was supposed to represent each state, then my vote goes to the Maine version. However, I am willing to continue testing as one from each state is just not conclusive...right??!!

There are no photos as the food were not photogenic...if food could be described as such.

Hmmm...yes mum...I still fit into my clothes.....good grief!

We continued on a rather boring drive with an anticipated stop being where Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland potentially met according to the gps. When we got to the supposed point, there were no signs...we were duped! And it wasn't a single point. Will need to check how far off we were.

We took a detour to Chesapeake City in Maryland and what a cute little town. Very pictureseque and historic. If was also nice to see water! It was great to stretch our legs for a little while.

We kept going and headed across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to get across to Annapolis. Did you know that it is supposed to be one of the scariest bridges to cross? Apparently the length, narrowness and height freak many out. We think its because you can see through the railings which were fairly low. Also, when its windy and it sways, or if its pouring rain and you can't see where you are going, that would be scary.

Saturday night was spent in Annapolis, Maryland and we reluctantly cleared out the rental car and seriously did some packing.

We were surprised by the amount of brochures, pamphlets, leaflets and maps, we had collected, sometimes more than one copy. A cull was done. We know we will have to do it again in New Yorkin a few days time.!
