First...the bad news. We didn't go the way we wanted to nor see all the things we planned to.

The good news...we met some lovely people and spent way too long in some places just talkng and talking...unheard of right?!!

Well, it started at breakfast in Manchester. We drove around and found Murphy's Diner. Gabe and I shared one order of french toast and coffee. It had linen napkins, and such a lovely ambience...with an old juke box in the corner, a dining area and a bar area...we could have stayed an hour or more! The free wifi was great too!

We then started our trek, stopping at a covered bridge at Bedford. Hoping to see a few more! Quck snoop around Concord and up to Franklin looking for another covered bridge. Unfortunately, no luck.... So, we keep going to Laconia. We are a little behind schedule and getting hungry. So, we pulled over when we saw a sign advertising food and an antique shop....big mistake!

The browsing was sensational! We could have been there for hours. as it was, we were there for nearly 1.5 hours...talking to the guy making the food and his customers who were all locals. Drew was an absolute character and kept us entertained. Gabe and him talked about music and their love of guitars. He guessed we weren't locals from our accents...I don't think that was the only thjng! When he found out where we were from he introduced us to John who was quietly having his lunch.

Apparently John was the president of the Laconia Main Street Initiative, a big deal in New Hampshire. We laughed when John said that Drew was the vice president. Gabe jokingly asked where the sheriff was...and Drew pipes up...'oh Andy? He was in earlier!' We all cracked up!! Even the other cusomer laughed and nodded!

Alll wondered what we were doing in Laconia of all places! We told them about our road trip to catch fall ( which we were about two weeks past the peak) and in Laconia specifically to visit the largest arcade museum in the world. Drew then mentioned he was up there a while back to look at a ride that featured on American Restoration. We both got excited as we catch that show at home. We sadly said goodbye as we had to keep going...we ahd to move the car as our time had run out as well as it was getting late.

Ah,...pac man, super mario, those old driving/racing games, space games, those pinball machines, games I don't remember but recognise the actual machines or the music..sigh...and of course the restored ride. The number of working machines made our heads spin as we walked around trying to decide what games to play, and remembering those we played....years ago!

We couldn't stay as long as we wanted as it was nearly 4pm. We hit the road and drove past a huge Harley Davidson shop...and pulled into the American Police Motor Cycle Museum. What a Collection. For me the interesting things were not the bikes, but the history and evolution of the bikes, the stories behind the bikes and the obvious pride of the owner, Doug. Again, a lovely man who was sorry to see us go and asked us to come back as his guests as we had to rush off as it was getting dark. We stopped to take photos at Cenre Harbour and catch an otter frolicking in the lake,

We did get to our intended stop of Fabyans Station, close to the base station of the Mt Washinton Cog Railway about 7pm. It was a bit dark driving through the mountains and we missed some of the sights but it was worth it. We took an alternate, shorter route.

Dinner at Fabyans Station was economical and delish.

By the way, did you know that Pac Man was the first game of its type? Before it, video games featured race cars or space ships. Pac man was non violent...and had characters..lol...thought I'd share that with you.
