OK so I am back in Kathmandu now. I am done with my volunteer in the village. Because of the Dasain Festivals the health clinic and everything else for that matter are closed. It is basically like our version of Christmas break for kids here. Well except we don't have a national animal sacrificing day. Ya that little goat that used to live next to my room in the village is now an offering to the Hindu gods. Not my favorite day of the festival thats for sure. I hung out in Pokhara for most of that week, it is a very peaceful relaxing place. I did end up doing that 4 day buddhist philosophy course. It was very interesting and I did learn a lot. They combine the teachings with yoga and meditation too. They have very different views on yoga here and for all those power yoga people apparently that is not what real yoga is supposed to be like. Go figure we have to westernize everything. Never the less it was a good experience and no I am not a born a again buddhist. Although it is the most loving and non judging religion I have ever studied.
A couple days ago, in Pokhara, me and this AUS guy David rented a motorbike. That was a very crazy day. The first five mins we had the thing David ran it though the garden and into the guesthouse. It was quite funny and the nepali guys were on the ground laughing. We though it was going to be an automatic but we ended up with this huge bike and neither of us has driven a bike with a clutch. We did end up figuring it out kinda but I had some issues driving on the left side of the road. We stalled the thing about 9 times mostly in the middle of intersections, I think the clutch was going out. People would just laugh at us and help us push it off the road. I dont think tourist rent motorbikes here very often. We drove to this Tibetan refugee village, which was deserted because it was the day after the big sacrifice. All the buddhist(mainly the monks) were inside meditation for the people that killed the animals the day before. We did think we were broke down at one point. We had like 9 nepali guys trying to help us start the thing, each of them having to try themselves. This went on for about twenty mins or so until this old tibetan guy walked up and just flipped the little red button on the handle bar and it started. Apparently there is an on button in addition to turning the key. :)
So now I am back in the craziness of Kathmandu. I am going to do a few more days of volunteering here. Maybe teach some more health classes and go to the big clinics. After that I have no idea what I am doing or where I am going... maybe India or trekking around Annapurna?? We shall see...

Hello from Kirtlye
Hey Kelly,
It's seems fitting that you crashed into stuff and kept breaking down on your motorbike! It's good to know that some things don't change, no matter which continent you're on. Keep having fun and be safe.
