Where I stayed
I got up early and headed for Oak Park, IL for the annual Wright Plus House Walk, which is an open house showcasing homes by Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporaries in the neighborhood of his first home and studio.
This year there were eleven properties that were part of the Wright Plus event, including his home and studio and Unity Temple. The ticket allows me to visit his home and studio and Unity Temple any time during the remainder of 2013, I've already seen them anyway so I didn't go see them today but I did manage to visit the other nine properties, which wasn't as easy as I would have expected. Quite a few of them had quite lengthy lines. I got to the Wright home and studio where you check in and get your pass shortly after they opened at 9:00 and didn't leave the last house until a bit past 4:30. I enjoyed seeing the houses but it was a tiring day due to all the standing.
I went back to my hotel for a short break before heading out to dinner at Topolobampo. I'm having dinner with a guy I met through Facebook during my last trip to Chicago. We share a number of interests including fine dining. I'll be having dinner with him every night for the rest of my time in Chicago.
Topolobampo shares a kitchen with Frontera Grill but the menu is quite different. I got the five-course vegetarian tasting menu. It was good but I wasn't blown away by it.
