I went to see Johnny's Dance Band tonight. I've been a fan of the group since the very beginning.  I saw the band's first performance at John & Peter's Place in New Hope, PA in 1973. I had no idea who they were at the time. Four of us had just wandered in and they happened to be the entertainment that evening. I followed the band from then until 1978 when I moved to Florida. They made it big in the Philadelphia area and got a recording contract but the record company didn't know what to do with them, didn't promote them properly and they never took off nationally. They eventually split up around 1980.  I serendipitously found out that they had recently gotten together for a reunion concert and had decided to stay together.  The show tonight was the only one on their calendar that I was able to attend.

Traffic was bad on the drive from Broadlands, VA to New Hope, PA.  All the seats were taken by the time I arrived.  They've enlarged the stage so there are fewer seats than the already small number that were here the last time I saw them play here over 30 years ago.  They only had three of the six people main people who eventually came to be the group.  In spite of the missing people, I enjoyed seeing them again.
