I got ready to ski and hopped on the gondola down the mountain so I could rent skis for the day. My first surprise was that Fridays are considered a "weekend" and the rental rates are 100 yuan a day higher. That means that for the three days I will be paying a total of 1,600 yuan or about $265 to rent a pair of skis that can be purchased new with the same bindings for $259.99. What a racket.
I headed back up the mountain to start skiing. It was colder and windier today. It was obvious I was going to be taking some breaks. I ran into the woman I met a couple days ago. We wound up going in to warm up for a while. She left for a lesson and I headed back out again. I wound up taking another break or two later in the day.
I headed down to return my skis at the end of the day. In spite of the time warming up I managed to get in around 6,000 meters of vertical today. I then caught the gondola back up the hill for the last time. I'll be leaving tomorrow and catching a train back to Harbin.
