I went to the Devils Tower National Monument today. It was the first national monument when it was created in 1906,
I've always wondered why it is Devils Tower National Monument instead of Devil's Tower National Monument. Well, I found out that the paperwork creating the national monument had a typo that has never been fixed.
The tower is quite imposing from the Visitor Center relatively close to the base. There were a couple hiking trails, which I decided not to take since it was a very hot day.
I drove toward Medicine Bow, WY, where I'll be going tomorrow. The closest rooms I could find were in Casper so I stopped there for the night.
