Where I stayed
I went back to Acadia National Park again today. Getting there was a little tricky due to the marathon that was going on.
My first stop was Thunder Hole. It's a small inlet where incoming waves hit the granite walls in such a way that the water shoots way up in the air. I was told that peak time would be around 11:30 today, a couple hours before high tide. Unfortunately, it was a pretty calm day so Thunder Hole wasn't particularly impressive. It was much rougher yesterday and looked better even at non-peak times.
My next stop was Jordan Lake. I parked around the restaurant and hiked the length of the lake on the west side and then up to Bubble Rock, a large rock left by a glacier in a precarious position on the side of a steep hill that looks like it's about to roll down the hill. I hiked back to my car on the east side of the lake.
My next stop was Cadillac Mountain. There are lots of hiking trails up the mountain but I drove up. The top is above the tree line and offers good views of much of the area.
I drove to the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse again tonight. The crowds were much thinner but the sunset wasn't any better than yesterday. After sunset, I headed back to my room in Bar Harbor.
