My first stop today was the Shed Aquarium.  It's in the Museum Campus Chicago near the Field Museum of Natural History.  While I was interested in seeing the Aquarium, I have to admit that the main reason I came today is probably that I already had a ticket since I had bought the CityPASS.

Along with the usual displays of fish, the Aquarium has some unusual features.  One surprise was a dolphin show.  Another were the cold water exhibits with penguins, otters and beluga whales.

As usual, I was there until closing.  I then headed to L2O restaurant for my dinner reservation.  L2O was one of two Michelin three-star restaurants in Chicago in their 2011 book however, their old chef, Laurent Gras, left a number of months before my visit and it was downgraded to two stars in the 2012 listing, which came out after my visit.

I didn't realize it, but L2O is mainly a seafood restaurant.  I negotiated a couple changes in the tasting menu but there really didn't seem to be a way to have a vegetarian meal without severely compromising.

The meal was fine but there were some problems with the service.  The biggest problem is that they use small cabinets on wheels to hold supplies near the tables.  There aren't as many of the cabinets as there are tables so they are moved around a lot.  Since I was eating by myself, there was room around my table so a cabinet was frequently stored nearby when it wasn't being wheeled around.  It was rather distracting.
