I got ready to leave my hotel and discovered I had a flat. I changed the tire and then drove to Lithia Toyota to get the flat patched. It was lunch time when I got there and I had to wait for a while but I was surprised to discover that the service was free.

I drove over to Turtle Bay Exploration Park to see the Sundial Bridge, a footbridge across the Sacramento River designed by Santiago Calatrava. The bridge was completed in 2004, three years after the only other structure he's completed in the U.S., the Milwaukee Art Museum Quadracci Pavilion. While it's not as impressive a structure as the museum, it's a very nice bridge. I'm sorry I wasn't able to stay until after dark to see it with the lights in the walkway turned on. It also looked like a nice park and I'm sorry I didn't have time to see more of it.

I left Redding and drove to Lassen Volcanic National Park. There aren't many rooms in the area so I stayed at a campground in the park.
