I stopped in Idaho Falls on my way to MacKay, ID where I intend to climb Borah Peak, the highest point in Idaho. I intended to spend a couple days here resting up from climbing Granite Peak but I wound up staying much longer.
The first weather forecast for Borah Peak was for good weather on August 6th & 7th. Unfortunately, as the days passed the days when good weather were forecast weren't getting any closer. Every day they were getting pushed out by a day. Finally, on the 9th the forecast stopped slipping. The forecast was for good weather on the 11th and 12th. I decided I'd leave on the 10th, drive to Borah Peak and hike up to a campsite in the afternoon. There was a chance I'd get rained on but I'd be in the trees low on the mountain so even a thunderstorm wouldn't have been a big problem. I planned to try and summit on the 11th.
