I packed up and started the roughly 7-mile walk back to the trailhead. When I got near the bridge I ran into the Boy Scout group that had borrowed my water filter. I walked with them for a while but they were too fast for me and left me behind. I found out they hadn't summitted either. They ran into too much snow following the usual route up Gunsight Pass.
When I arrived back at the trailhead the Boy Scout group was by their car. It wouldn't start. They had tried getting jumps from a couple people, with no success. It sounded to me as though the other people just hadn't been patient enough so I gave them a jump and had them wait a few minutes before trying to start it. That did the trick.
Having done my good deed for the day, I drove to Kemmerer, WY and got a room.

Gordon, We couldn't have done the hike without you! We are still in your debt! It's great to see people do good things for others. Thanks once again! We got home safely, and the boys are still talking about you. You're a great example to them. We loved hearing your stories of your travels all around the world. Please let us know when you come through the Salt Lake area again. Happy trails Gordon and enjoy Jackson Hole!
