Today was the first day of a 4-day Defensive Handgun class at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, a large gun training school near Pahrump, NV. I took the same class last year. Just like last year, we were told to arrive at 6:30 the first day. When I arrived I noticed some improvements since my last visit. The most welcome change was the new bathrooms replacing the port-a-potties.

Class doesn't actually start until 8:00. The first 90 minutes is spent registering, going through an equipment check and signing release forms. At 8:00 you go to your assigned range with a smaller group. Much of the morning is spent covering safety issues with some shooting. After lunch there's another lecture followed by more time on the range and more shooting. In the evening there was another lecture. It makes for a long, intense day of training. The high temperatures in Nevada this time of year don't help.
