I checked out of my hotel in Page yesterday and drove to Tusayan, AZ, the town closest to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and got a room. I briefly stopped at a few overlooks on my way here but, otherwise, didn't do anything in the park.
Today I went over to Grand Canyon Village. I spoke to some rangers about hikes into the canyon and walked to a couple overlooks. I went to the Yavapai Geology Museum to check their meter showing the miles of visibility. Unfortunately, their meter was broken. Whatever the visibility is, it is much better than it was when I was here before. During that visit there were controlled burns in the forests just south of the Grand Canyon and the visibility was terrible. This year it is much too dry to do any controlled burns.
I went back to my hotel for a while and then went back over to Mather Point to take pictures at sunset.
