My first stop today was the Pipe Spring National Monument. The history of the place is more interesting than anything you see but it's worth a stop if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Next I headed for the Grand Canyon National Park - North Rim Visitor Center. It was raining on my way there and, as I feared, the moisture mixed with forest fire smoke blowing in from California limited the visibility. I headed for the other overlooks on the north rim. I went to Point Imperial first. Then I headed for Vista Encantada and finally Roosevelt Point. The other viewpoints were inaccessible due to road work. By the time I got to them the visibility was somewhat improved but still not great.

I booked a room in Page but when I tried to drive there I found out that the road was closed.  I'm pretty sure they were repairing damage from recent rains.  Since the detour took me most of the way to Flagstaff I cancelled my room in Page and got a room in Flagstaff instead.
