When I got up I thought I had time to get some things done in my room before heading for the park. Around 11:30am I got a call from the front desk reminding me that I was supposed to be checking out. I checked my itinerary and, sure enough, they were right. I quickly packed everything up and carried it out to the car. After checking out (and apologizing for my mistake) I headed toward the park.

There are a number of rock shops on the road to the park. I stopped to see what they had for sale that was local. It turns out there are geodes from nearby but they weren't very attractive.

Since I arrived at the park well before my tour I took a couple hikes to kill some time. I went back to the Visitors' Center for my 4:00pm Historic Tour. This tour covers a lot of the same territory I visited on the Star Chamber Tour but with the lights on instead of by lantern. Surprisingly, in many places the lighting had been just as good by lantern.

After the tour I headed for Indianapolis,Indiana. Even though the route is due north, you go from the Central time zone back to the Eastern time zone, making my arrival even later. I went to bed shortly after arriving.
