I had a bad morning, whether it was lack of sleep or Doxycycline (malaria tabs) making me strange, I don't know. Georgina frog marched me to find breakfast to hopefully kick start my brain. I couldn't think straight, my heart was pounding, and the constant nag of "Hello, good morning, how are you? You want taxi?" were starting to get rather rude responses!

Possibly the hottest day we've had yet, so we escaped into Galle Maritime Archaeology Museum. We watched a short film about various wrecks around Galle, and their excavations. It was interesting and AIR CONDITIONED!

The museum itself was on the dull side, too many info boards and not enough stuff. The building was cool: a huge open plan space, with high ceilings. The roof tiles were visible and light sneaked in through the cracks. If the shutters had been open it would have been flooded with light, but as it was, it was dim, warm and slightly suffocating.

Escaping the warm fug of the museum, we picked up a 'tuk tuk ice lolly' for 30rp, giving us the sugar hit we needed.

The now open town sported plenty of shops full of oddities: endless gem/jewellery shops with the most ridiculous and over priced bling, souvenir shops full of surprisingly tasteful trinkets, and strangely, loads of antique shops filled with lots of junk but also plenty of interesting bits and pieces.

After emptying our wallets on pretty postcards and wooden key rings, we spent our day just meandering about, Galle is an interesting place to just be... and people watch!

Our chit chat ranged from the serious conversations about career choices, to the silly ones about buckets lists: we now want to buy a tuk tuk, pimp it up, and tour around north Sri Lanka in it. I also added that I wanted to stop at every tuk tuk rank, hang out the door and say "Hello. Madam. You want tuk tuk?" to the other tuk tuk drivers. The tuk tuk drivers have a good sense of humour, they'd love it!
