Hello all,
It's been almost a month since I got back from Europe and I still can't get used to the sales tax being added to all my purchases! That and many other things (like the lack of a decent baguette) that I should have written about right when I got back from my seven-month stay, but I never got around to it. Same story about the rest of the blog, really. I apologize for not giving more information about where I've been, what I've visited, who I've met...but now that I'm home and penniless, I have all the time in the world ;)
Since my last entry, I have visited Italy, Greece (Athens), Sweden and Poland...although truthfully, I was on a goodbye tour in the last two countries. I had an overdose of sightseeing by the time I hit Gothenburg, so I can't say that I've really done the tourist thing in Sweden or Poland. Can I say exactly what I've seen in the last few months? No. However, I can imagine that when I start going through the thousands of pictures that I collected in the 15 (!) countries I've visited, I will be able to associate a pleasant souvenir to a place or to a face.
You know what? I've realized that travelling is not a checklist that has to be blindly followed; the shear richness and complexity of the European continent and its people make it impossible to do or see everything anyways. I'll take slow and leisurely over rushing, whirlwind tour anytime.
Anyhow, it's back to reality for me. I'm in the process of finding some kind of employment that will hopefully occupy me enough that I can get over this post-Erasmus depression that I seem to be suffering from for almost a month now. I'll get over it...but I know there's only one way to really cure it...by getting my ass back on a flight to anywhere in Europe!
To my friends in Europe: If any of you wants to come visit me in Canada, let me know and I'll be happy to show you around!
To everyone else: Don't hesitate if you have any questions about my experience in Europe. Whenever I hear about travelling, I'm like a kid whose eyes lights up on Christmas morning.
Cheers,
Marcel
P.S.: I've updated the travel blog with some new pictures starting with my Rome entry. For those lucky to be on my Facebook or MSN Space, I should update these with more pictures very soon :)
