Amazing. Magnificent. Dazzling. Stunning.
Need I say more?
Lake Como is not like you'd imagine. Its better. The lake itself is in the shape of an upside down 'Y' with the city of Como on one of the branches. I am staying in the small town of Cadenabbia, which is near the intercession.
When we arrived, we took a bus from Como to Cadenabbia. A long curly journey which I traveled facing backwards on an overcrowded bus trying my best not to vomit. And to the relief of everyone involved - I succeeded. So I did not get the chance to admire the amazing views on the trip or even when I arrived. However this morning when I woke and stuck my head out the window I was speechless.
Our little hotel overlooks the lake and the smell of fish it in the air. Its absolute bliss. After my customary cioccolatoc croissant for breakfast we boarded the ferry for Bellagio. My favourite town on the lake.
I have spent today generally exploring both Bellagio and Menaggio. They are small towns which seem again to be mainly for the rich, however I am in love. The area is green and lush. The streets are narrow and cobble stone with all types of leather and silk for sale. So I bought a silk scarf (to match my jacket of course!). And then a pairs of aviators...with my self control slipping considerably.
The views from the ferry are beautiful. My favourite is a small church perched halfway up a cliff. There are no other buildings in sight on this mountain and no obvious road. It seems completely secluded.
Well on that note its time to go. Its wine o'clock and I am in charge of cheese (as usual).
Next stop: Venice.
Arrivederci!
