Todays Author - Jeff

270 miles on the 1st day was probably always ambitious target Add to that 106 degree heat, a later than planned start, 106 degree heat, flaky Satnav, 106 degree heat, Cheap supermarket bike communications and did i mention how hot  it was. It was well after 11 when we finally made it on the I5 with Rogers Satnav not really helping . We managed to lose Greg before the first fuel stop but due to not paying attention and the crap bike comms we had all purchased. Then during the course of the day Roger managed to break away too leaving Tim and I who never let each other get out of site after that.  Mad dogs and Englishmen (not even mad dogs) go out in  100 + degrees in a black leather biking jacket but not one of us really wanted to ride with any protection i did finally remove mine when we hit the outskirts of Eugene and if it as hot again today I may not be the only one. Stayed at the Broadway Inn which thankfully had a pool an ice machine and wifi. Eat in a nice restaurant Mc Menamins nice food and local beer. Found an interesting Pub called the Beer Stein more bottled beers than I have ever seen in one Pub but a lack of Aircon meant we only stayed for one.  At that point  Greg and Tim retired Rog and I managed to find happy hour at a mexican called The Mission we continued to drink like we were on one.  Things we'll do difeerently tomorrow, an earlier start, more stops and not breaking up the group but its a 300 mile leg lets hope its not quite so hot
