Today has been brilliant! We got up early and left Champaign kinda early after a huge breakfast courtesy of the hotel (I made a waffle with a waffle iron and batter and everything! Apple butter is my new favourite).

Did about 3/400 miles today, and have ended up in Mammoth Cave national park, Kentucky. It's beautiful around here from what I can see, and hopefully we'll get to explore more in the morning before heading onto Lynchburg to see the Jack Daniels distillery. Didn't quite make it today due to roadworks, trying to avoid too much interstate and traffic but that's cool. We stopped off for some Long John Silver for tea which honestly put me off fried food for life, and saw some cool things along the way. Lots of murder barns, a gofer at Racoon Lake national park, all the typical American stores, some tiny towns (some looked like time warps!) and lots of other things I'm sure I've forgotten.

Had a really good evening. We found some local games stores at the travel centre we stayed in (travel centres are basically areas designed for truckers, I think - they usually consist of 5/6 hotels, the same number of your standard fast food chains, gas stations and whatever else they wish to include)!.

Cracker Barrel for tea (I'm in love - it's a 'country store and restaurant' chain, and they sell delicious stuff like meatloaf, catfish, steak, pot roasts etc and the restaurants are all decked out with 'old' metal ad signs and stuff!), then had a go on some petrol go karts - Wenham beat me - and spent ages playing old 80s arcade games for tokens, air hockey and pool in a deserted games store run by a lovely old guy. I cashed in my tokens for a queen of hearts beeny toy and a lucky dip bag which contained a tiny plastic care bear!

Purchased: moon pies, Reeses pumpkin special edition cups, cheetos and twinkies plus some gifts from Cracker Barrel.

Onto Lynchburg tomorrow - woop, whiskey! Think Wenham is in shock as he's had no beer today (didn't serve alcohol in Cracker Barrel - wierd!)

Overheard on country radio: Don't squat while wearing spurs

Spotted on church billboard: Without the bread of life you are toast

Also learned what skeeball is and saw a trucker with SS tattoos on his neck :s
