From Kas we headed to Olympos, staying in a deluxe version of the B&Q shed. This is another stunning beach area, but surrounded by ancient ruins and the most mystical Chimaera. For thousands of years, pilgrims have flocked to the natural gases that ignite from the rocks, giving off huge flames. Even now it's origins are unknown. Hyper-ventilating on the climb up, spluttering like a Berlin Trabant, we almost managed to tread on a Scorpion on the way back down, wow they move fast!!!

After a couple of days, we headed to Antalya, staying in the old city, feeling like we had just found a seaside Florence. However, 39 degrees and humid, we decided to get to fabulous Cappadocia.

The images and stories we could show would never do it justice, but this is truly a fairytale landscape that every child and those adults still wanting to be children should visit!  A huge eruption thousands of years ago created an environment that formed habitable caves and inspired no lesser creation than the Flintstones!

Among the many wonderful people we have met so far, Henry and Will, two Kiwis driving a battered Volvo from Amsterdam to here could well be the most wacky yet. Their tales of bribing east European officials are legendary. Although our Welsh friend cycling from Caerphilly to China comes high on the list too.

Last night was the end of Ramadan, so no more canon firing when it is time to eat in the evening and no more drummers beating the streets at 3.30am to wake people up to eat in the mornings. We shall kind of miss it.

However, of all of the many highlights of this journey so far, this morning we arose at 5am to take a hot air balloon trip across Cappadocia. So amazing that words fail us, perhaps the pictures will help.
